Step 2 - Withdrawals and profit splits
Financial Settings
Step 2 configures the financial aspects of your plan: withdrawal rules, profit splits, and payout structure. This determines how traders get paid.
Profit Split
Set the percentage of profit traders receive:
Common Splits
- 80/20 - Trader gets 80%, firm keeps 20% (most common)
- 90/10 - Trader gets 90%, firm keeps 10% (competitive)
- 70/30 - Trader gets 70%, firm keeps 30% (conservative)
- 50/50 - Trader gets 50%, firm keeps 50% (instant funding)
Tiered Splits
Increase split based on performance:
- First $10K profit: 80%
- $10K-$50K profit: 85%
- Above $50K profit: 90%
Rewards successful traders and encourages retention.
Minimum Withdrawal
Set minimum payout amount:
- $100 - Low barrier, frequent payouts
- $500 - Moderate, reduces processing
- $1,000 - High barrier, less frequent payouts
Lower minimums are more trader-friendly but increase processing work.
Withdrawal Frequency
How often can traders withdraw?
On Demand
- Withdraw anytime
- Most flexible
- More processing work
Weekly
- Once per week
- Specific day (e.g., Fridays)
- Balances flexibility and processing
Bi-Weekly
- Every two weeks
- Reduces processing load
- Still reasonable for traders
Monthly
- Once per month
- Minimal processing
- May frustrate traders
Withdrawal Fees
Who pays transaction fees?
Trader Pays
- Deducted from payout
- Firm has no fee cost
- Reduces trader's net payout
Firm Pays
- Firm covers fees
- Trader receives full amount
- More attractive to traders
Shared
- Split fees 50/50
- Compromise approach
Profit Calculation Method
How is profit calculated?
Balance-Based
- Current balance minus starting balance
- Simple and clear
- Most common
Closed Trades Only
- Only closed trades count
- Open positions don't affect profit
- More conservative
High Water Mark
- Profit from highest balance reached
- Prevents gaming the system
- More complex
Withdrawal Conditions
Set conditions for withdrawals:
Minimum Trading Days
- Must trade X days before first withdrawal
- Prevents quick cash-outs
- Ensures trader engagement
Minimum Profit
- Must reach minimum profit before withdrawing
- E.g., $500 minimum
- Reduces small withdrawals
Account Age
- Account must be X days old
- Prevents immediate withdrawals
- Allows time for pattern analysis
Scaling Plan
Allow traders to increase account size:
Performance-Based Scaling
- Hit profit target → increase balance
- E.g., make $5K → account scales to $60K
- Rewards successful traders
Purchase-Based Scaling
- Trader can buy account size increases
- Additional revenue for firm
- Faster growth for traders
Balance Resets on Withdrawal
Choose whether balance resets:
Reset to Starting Balance
- After withdrawal, balance returns to start
- Profit target resets
- Common approach
Keep Accumulated Balance
- Withdrawal deducted from balance
- Balance continues growing
- Trader keeps building
